Q: What is the best year for the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon?
I'm getting the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and i'm wondering what is the best off-roading year for it is. I don't like the new ones very much 07, 08, 09 so count those out.
thx for your help.
A: You are not alone in not being a fan of the latest wrangler design.
A rubicon is a trim package that may not be worth it for you if you have a garage and a set of tools. You might be better off buying a bone-stock 97-99 wrangler with the 4.0 and a 5-speed and putting a couple grand into it yourself. The only real difference in a rubicon is the dana 44 axles, and air lockers. Lockers help, but you really don't need 44's unless you plan on running 36 inch tires on it with a long-arm lift and a v8 conversion.
06 is the best year, with the 5 speed.
expect to pay about ten thousand extra for an 06 rubicon, over a 97 or 98 wrangler 4.0. Ten grand buys a lot of mods.
Q: Is it possible to get 0% on a Jeep Rubicon Wrangler?
I see they run that deal for Commander, but never Wranglers.
A: Anything is negotiable. The key is about the dealer if is willing to do it. Usually if is a good hot item you do not get rebates of any kind, but if is slow selling vehicle yes, you get tons of goodies. Like a Red Bow on a Lexus :-)) (that is funny!).
Q: I have a 2007 jeep wrangler rubicon will it make any performance difference if i add a k-n air filter?
also any sound difference any one know?
A: I have a AEM cold air kit and love it,it does make a difference I don't care what the magazines say.You can hear it pulling in more air and mine has a throttle body spacer so it does make a whistling noise. The AEM is cheaper then the K&N and 4wheelparts.com has free shipping right now.
Q: What's the "significant" difference between a jeep wrangler and a Rubicon?
I was told by a dairy farmer that a Rubicon is not so much a heavier "duty" jeep as it is simply heavier. Larger rims, tires, diamand plates, etc....! So the ratio and the axle has to be different just to compensate all of that. Somehow, this sounds logical. He said it's all a "hoopla" on getting people to spend more money. He said 4 bangers were all you ever needed in a jeep yet now 6's are the way to go now. He says, "save your money". My question is, is this 77 year old farmer right? Should I stick with wrangler?
A: One of the significant differences in the two is the fact that the Rubicon comes with locking front and rear differentials. Another difference is that the Rubicon comes standard with Dana 44 Axles front and rear, there is also a 4:1 gear ratio in the rear diff. The ride height on the Rubicon is higher due to the larger wheels. I am a Jeep Salesman and have done the research. If you are serious into offroading and want a good 4x4 that is capable off the lot i would go with the Rubicon.
Q: What size tires??? I have a 07 jeep wrangler rubicon. ?
I want to put 18" rims on it and an aggressive set of mud tires. I do not want to put a lift on it. how tall and wide can I go without the tires scrubbing? Any suggestions on the tires? TOYO, NITTO, ETC???
A: If you get a 18" rim with proper backspacing of between 5" and 4.5" you will be able to fit a 33x12.5R18 tire without a lift. However, with a larger & wider tire, when you go off-roading and use your Quick Disco you will not be able to get full flex due to rubbing of the tires on your rear & front fenders.
If you are planning on off-roading and no lift then I would consider a 285/65R18 tire which will be just as tall as the 33 but about 11.5 wide rather than 12.5 inches. On the street and highway the 33x12.5 tire will not rub on full turning lock to lock.
If you are thinking of spending money on rims you should consider a to 2.5" budget Boost from Rubicon Express, Terra Flex or Rough Country with shocks for about $400 to $600 and all these kits are pretty basic to install.
With at least a 2.5" BB you will be able to fit 35's very easily and have no rubbing issues at Full Flex. Also, the Dana 44 and 4:10 gearing on our Rubicon will be able to handle the extra stress of the bigger tires.
Tires I would consider are: Toyo Open Country M/T's and Cooper Discover STT's and consider the Mickey Thompson MTZ's.
Q: Can a newbie take a basic Jeep Wrangler through the Rubicon Trail?
I have zero experience in Rock Crawling...yet, I just bought a 1994 Jeep Wrangler [4.0L engine, automatic, 2 inch lift, 33inch tires, and transmission guard]...since I live only about 80 miles from the Rubicon Trail I thought I'd make a trip of it...but I'm a little intimidated. Can a newbie take this trail if I take it easy?
A: I would like to add that your tires are too large for the lift and will rub with any flex at all. add 2 more inches and you will be good to go. if it's a shackle lift, I would not go wheeling because of the high stress you would put on your driveline, as it will be angled improperly. 33 inches are a good size on the Rubicon if you want anything challenging without worrying about too much damage. I have a 1994 as well and I'm happy with the 1" shackles and 30" tires. Anything above that will call for mods I cannot handle at the moment. Listen to everyone about the spotter. And LISTEN TO YOUR SPOTTER. Look up newbies rock crawling on youtube and you will know what we are all talking about...
Just giving you a heads up.
Q: Mustang GT 500 or V6, OR Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and, New Bettle S or SE?
I'm wanting to buy a vehicle and don't know if i want a Mustang,Jeep or Beetle. I'd like to know everyone's opinion on my choices. Mustang GT, V6 or Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and New Beetle S or SE? PLZ leave your opinions! PLZ HLP!!
A: well, it depends how and if you want to get laid...you won't with the beetle, the mustang is for "fast girlz" and the jeep is for girlz who'll do it anywhere, anytime and especially in the mud...
Q: where can I find acessories online for the 2007 jeep wrangler rubicon?
A: A lot of folks have chimed in with some of the more common vendors: Quadratec, 4wd parts, JC Whitney, etc. I'll mention some less common vendors that I've had a lot of good experiences with.
For factory Jeep/Mopar accessories, look at Savage Jeep:
http://www.jparts.com
They are a Jeep dealership in PA. They sell all the same accessories as every other dealership, but at a much lower price. And they give free shipping with orders of $75 or more.
For aftermarket stuff, I recommend:
• Rokmen - http://www.rokmen.com
• Northridge 4x4 - http://www.northridge4x4.com
• 4x4 Rock Shop - http://www.4x4rockshop.com
• Supplee 4WD (405)799-8977 (Bob Supplee doesn't do the online thing, but he'll work with you over the phone).
All of these are smaller outfits. Their owners are also Jeep enthusiasts and have a lot of insights as to what works well with what (e.g., best drive shaft to go with a tummy tuck, etc.). Best of all, they are all very honest people and will usually beat the prices of the big guys.
Q: What is the differance between a 2005 jeep wrangler rubicon ed. and a 2005 wrangler x ed?
A: Steve A is close except I think he's referring to new Rubicons.
The 2005 version doesn't have electric sway bar disconnects, nor the Electronic Stability Control. The rest is right on.
If you off-road a lot, the difference is definitely worth it. If you have no off-roading experience or rarely take your Jeep off-road, it's probably not. A Wrangler X is very capable for most off-road use, especially if you develop a little experience. The capability of a Rubicon is just plain amazing.
As to electric disconnects and ESP: It takes less than 5 minutes to disconnect the sway bars. I've never even invested in the quick disconnects. The main advantage of electric sway bar disconnects would be not having to get down on the ground on rainy or snowy days.
The ESP could be nice. I've never driven a car with ESP, but I'm pretty impressed with their concept of operation.
Q: i just bought a 2007 jeep wrangler rubicon and want to put a really good alarm system on it?
i want the best of the best and willing to pay for it give me ideas and sites please. the alarm needs to be good prefer camera with motion detector too i have the money to pay for it, so need price estimates
A: Two words: PIT BULL! No one will go near it!
Q: Jeep Rubicon 05 coil springs compatible with jeep wrangler 01?
My dad is going to get a lift kit for his jeep rubicon(I think its an 05), and I was wondering if the leftover parts ( Coil springs, shocks, w/e else) would fit on my 2001 jeep wrangler?
Seeing as his coils are visually about 2-3inches bigger than the ones on my jeep, could this be a cheap way of getting a 2" lift?
I could also get his old tires, which are 2" bigger than my current ones, maybe boost it up to a 4" lift.
Also, if his coils are compatible on my jeep should I still buy a transfer case lowering kit (is 2" enough to mess it up?).
Please bear with me, i'm not exactly mechanically inclined so my lingo might be a bit off :>
"It will work fine, but you are going to need to switch out the control arms as well. Don't worry about lowering the T-case, I lifted my jeep 14"s and didn't need to lower the T-case just needed a SYE kit."
Does a standard lift kit come with those control arms? If so, then I could ust the ones from the rubicon right? And i heard that if I dont lower the T-case then the gears might start popping out and it could cause some grindeage and stuff :(
A: You do not need to do a slip yoke eliminator just to change your springs to Rubicon springs. You also do not need to change your control arms, they are the same as the Rubicon's. All you need to do to upgrade is to put your Dad's springs on your Jeep. You can use his shocks though, they are newer, and if I recall correctly are valved slightly different. Q: Yellow or Black 2006 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon?
What color is better?
A: Back when I got my Wrangler I liked red. I ended up getting a tan '99 Sahara. I'm glad I did, since nowadays I don't like the flashier looking Jeeps. I was never a fan of yellow, and I don't particularly like red or orange now. Dark green, black, tan, olive green and dark blue are what look best to me now. I can't think of a single car or truck that doesn't look incredible in black. You can guess what my vote is for.
Q: can anybody tell me what the difference between the jeep wrangler and the jeep rubicon is?
A: A Rubicon is a specific variety of Jeep Wrangler. Other varieties include Sahara, Sport, X, etc.
"Rubicon" is a package of features that improve upon a Wrangler's offroad capability. The list generally includes:
• Stronger Axles: Rubicon has Dana-44 axles front and rear. Other Wranglers might (optionally) have a Dana-44 in the rear, otherwise they have a weaker Dana-35 rear and Dana-30 front.
• Lower 4wd gearing - The Rubicon transfer case has a 4:1 gear ratio. Other Wranglers have 2.72:1. That means in 4wd-low, speeds are slower for controlled descents down steep terrain, and torque is greater for climbing over rocks.
• Stronger drive shafts and U-Joints - to accommodate the increased torque from the transfer case.
• Axle lockers - lock the left to the right to reduce wheel slippage when climbing steep, loose, uneven terrain.
• Swaybar disconnect (2007 only) - disengages the front stabilizer bar for increased wheel articulation over uneven terrain.
• Rocker panels (2004-2006) - 3/8" steel diamond plate rocker guards to protect body parts when smashed on rocks. 2007 Rubicons have frame-mounted "Rock Rails" that do the same thing.
• Tires and wheels - from the factory, larger wheels and more aggressive tires than standard Wranglers.
Q: how many mpg does the jeep wrangler rubicon have?
A: A stock Rubicon only came with a 6 cyl, 4.0 I6 from 03 to 06 and the 3.8 V6 in 07 and 08.
I am not familiar with the mileage on the new model, but the TJ Rubi's mileage will vary between 12 mpg in stop and go city driving to 20 or so if you're on the highway and driving slowly.
Most people seem to get 15-17 or so, it will depend on how heavy your foot is.
See....you CAN answer a question without being condescending.
Q: whats the difference between a jeep wrangler rubicon & a jeep wrangler?
A: different engine and spedometers
