Q: What should I pay for a used 2006 Jeep Commander?
I found a Jeep Commander on a local lot for $16,949. It's a V6 3.7L AWD with 34,151mi. I cannot say that it's not in excellent condition, but we all know how nice some detailing can make a used car look. There are some minor scratches that I know I can buff out, but I would never admit that to the salesman, lol. The general sales manager is trying to screw us by showing us a blue book for a 2006 Jeep Commander Limited, NOT just a regular 2006 Jeep Commander. I have all of the correct paper work on the vehicle now with a carfax (which checked out clean). The Kelly Blue Book quotes retail in excellent condition at 17,500. I know these guys are screwing around with me, but I'm a pretty informed guy. What do you think I should be paying for this mid-class SUV? I'm trying to get the guy to around 15,000 (which for 2 straight hours they swore up and down they couldn't do. Although somehow they swear they can "finnagle" the interest rate on the financing (My mother is signing on it with me, she has amazing credit.) I want this one, I can't find it in the same color on any other lot around here. I already did a test drive and ran it through it's paces. Everything on that end checks out. I just really want to know if I can do better on the price.

A: i would never pay that much you can get something new for that price. And thoes dealers are deff messing with you. Get as much information as you can on the vechile. Try finding a dealer that beat the price even if its not the same vechile, because all dealers wanna be known for their "low prices" Also let them know if they dont meet ur price ur walking, they want to make their money, they'll eventully come down i think a decent price would be around $14,000

Q: 2006 jeep commander leak!?
i went into my car this morning and after its been raining for 3 days now, on the pass side mat and foot area its saturated with water. it doesnt look like it leaked from ne where bc by the time i noticed it it would have been dry if it was leaking from the dash since i had the heat on blast. just the mat and the floor under it was wet as if it were dripping from the glove box. but the glove box was dry as a bone. where could this be leaking from and why now after all the summer and fall rain did this start out of no where? i also hear water swooshing around somewhere after a good rain but never had a leak prob all tho have read about the prob. still under warranty but where is it coming from and how do i prevent the moldy smell?!

A: if your vehicle has a sunroof, one of the drains probably came out of the floor. the drains route from the sunroof to the floor, behind all the trim panels. i have personally replaced carpet in these vehicles because of moldy smells after fixing water leaks. your dealer should do the same if under warranty. hope this helps and Merry Christmas.

Q: jeep commander roomy?
were the jeep commander 2006 and 2007 versions more roomier than the 2008 and 2009 versions.(second row legroom), or was it always tight?

A: Always pretty tight.

Q: Jeep Commander or Cadillac SRX?
I am trying to decide between a 2006 Commander V8 38k miles low option car or a 2004 Cadillac SRX V6 43k miles with everything option except the moonroof. They are comparable in price and I have always owned Jeeps with great luck but I am feeling the need for a little luxury. I am upgrading from 96 cherokee with 175,000 miles so anything will be better but the Jeep has never been comfortable on long trips or good on gas. What would you recommend. I forgot to mention the SRX is AWD.

A: I would pick the Cadillac over the jeep, unless you need to have a 4x4. in that case i would get a GMC Denali or a Cadillac Escalade. I drive a Denali and love it.

Q: When is the best time to buy a brand new vehicle?
I am looking to purchase a 2006 Jeep Commander new(loaded) or 2006 an Expedition new. The dealers don't seem to be budging on price. What is the best time of year to get the best price on an SUV? If I wait until the 2007's come out will I have more haggle room? Or do you think they will have that employee price program for the public again?

A: I doubt they will have the employee pricing again, but like the first person said wait till the new model years are coming out and you'll see big incentives on the year old models. You probabbly won't see too many deals on the Commander as its a new release from Jeep. The 06 Expeditions will go down soon as the new revised 07's will be out this fall to compete with GMC and Chevy and their new Tahoe's and Suburbans. Also find out what intrest rates they are offering and what you qualify for. A lot of times a more expensive vehicle will cost less in the long run if you have a low intrest rate... 0% or 1.9% compared to 5-6%. That can save you thousands over the course of a vehicle loan. In that case grab something now if you can get the low rate. Also a great Site to check out is Edmunds.com They have a thing called TMV which is True Market Value. This can really help you by making sure the price you're paying for your car is fair and around the national average for other comsumers.

Q: What went wrong with my Pursuit car alarm/remote start system?
I had a pursuit alarm/remote start system put on my 2006 Jeep Commander two days ago. The mechanic told me about a "pit stop" feature that the remote start had, and demonstrated it. Basically, if you stop at a gas station and want to leave your car running while you run in, you hit the remote start button twice and remove your keys. The car stays running. Then upon returning, you just put the keys back in the ignition, turn it to "on", and drive away. It sounded pretty convenient so I tried it. Twenty minutes later as I was driving on the expressway, the remote chirped, the engine died, and the steering wheel locked, WHILE I WAS DRIVING! Also, the information panel said "Programming Active" and a red light was flashing next to it. What happened? Obviously, the remote start timer didn't disengage when I replaced the keys in the ignition, but why did that happen? Should I continue to use this "pit stop" feature anymore?

A: talk to the mechanic that wired it up, ask him all these questions, after all, he installed it he should know about it.

Q: is a special wax needed for a new black vehicle?
i have a 2006 jeep commander, is there a special wax i should use because the truck is black?

A: Use meguires just because it is better. Otherwise no. Wax is supposed to repel water and dirt and let the paint shine through.

Q: Trying to find a website that specializes in high mileage, low price, late model cars...?
I am looking to buy a 2006 Jeep Commander...the only problem is that all of the jeeps that I have looked at are very low mileage, therefore the price is high. I am looking for a website where they specialize in late model high mileage cars. Ideally I would like to find a Commander between 60k to 100k miles on it...know of any place where I can look? Thanks.

A: Try these at autotrader.com but beware and run a carfax on any that the price seems too low on as they are probably showing a wreck on carfax. Good luck!

Q: Which Car should I get?
I will be 16 soon and I want a car I was thinking about a 2004 land rover discovery, 2006 Jeep Commander, Pontiac solstice, or mustang. I really like SUV's but I also like roadsters and coupes. I'm gonna have to ride my lil sister around and my niece plus my friends are gonna ask for rides.

A: Scion tC contains these attributes: quality, safety, and reliability.

Q: What are some reliable websites to find a lower priced vehicle? NYC area preferred?
Other than : cars.com autobytel.com autotrader.com I am looking for either a 2006/07 Jeep Commander or a 2005/06/07 Mercury Mountaineer (8 cyl/leather/sunroof)... My brother is looking for a 2004-2007 Honda Accord Coupe... thanks in advance for your help...

A: If you are interested in buying a car, but feel as though you simply do not have the money, a government car auction might be the best opportunity for you. You can find incredible deals, and it is not uncommon for people to save thousands of dollars. whether you’re in the market for a new automobile or not. Q: finances, automobile?
Would like to get rid of my 2006 Jeep Commander and get into a less expensive vehicle; unfortunately still owe $20M on it and it's not worth that much. Any suggestions? Can't afford to take a loss.

A: This question (in some form or fashion) gets asked many times on here. If you "can't afford to take a loss", then your only option is selling it privately. However, '06 Commanders are only bringing $15K retail on dealer lots right now (much less for trade-in value). So, you're going to have a VERY tough time trying to find that one person that'll pay you $20K for it, when they can go to a dealer and get it for way less. If you tried to trade it, you would definitely take a huge hit. I take it from your post that you wouldn't have the cash to cover the difference, so you'd have to eat thousands (assuming you could find a lender that would cover the negative equity on a new car, and even then you're right back where you started, as the negative equity would add hundreds each month to your payment). It is always very difficult to trade into a less expensive vehicle when you have quite a bit of negative equity. Advice? Keep it. Ride it out. Pay it off. Let's assume that you'd lose $7500 if you traded or managed to sell it. How long would it take you to make up that loss in gas savings in the new car? Years.

Q: question about lien on a car////////financing?
i financed a 2006 jeep commander from a car lot a while back and its an awesome car. well the temporary tags expired and i called for my plate and they kept saying the owner of the car lot wasn't in and that he was doing this or doing that....they gave me a dealer tag licensce plate and told me to put it on until they got it straightened out. 2 months go by and ive heard nothing. i get the DMV investigator involved and he finds out that there is a lien on the car from the owner of the lot and he owes money on it....well ive gotten to the point to where i dont know what to do and i just want to take the car back basically. ... i contacted the attorney general to try to straighten it out....and im wondering if im going to be able to keep my jeep or get a new car or what? anyone know??

A: Well, in addition to needing a lawyer, I would try to take the car back. If there is a lien on it & he owes money on it, then technically he still owns it wouldn't ya think? But yeah I would speak with an attorney first. Be sure to show him/her all your papers. Then sue the crap out of him for all your lawyer fees. Good luck w/ that mess.

Q: lemon law? car problems... someone please help?
I traded in my jeep to get another car and I kept it for 4 months but within these 4 months i was having several problems with it and took it back to the dealership before the warranty ran out, the dealership said there was nothing wrong and the problems continued and even began to worsen so I had it checked by 5 other dealerships and they came back with it had transmission problems, power steering, and had been wrecked. The dealership i bought it from finally switched it out for me so i wouldnt not take them to court. I have had the new car for a month and a half now and recently started having problems with it. It is a 2006 jeep commander with 15,000 miles. I have had started problems and some electrical stuff wasnt working and it was towed to the dealership this morning. When i got it back i took it to another dealership just to have it double checked and they cam back and told me the lemon law had been used on it., it had a branded title that had been washed, and was only worth at the most 7,000 but the place i got it from had it listed at 28,500. what can i do? what can i expect out of this situation? They gave me a carfax when i got the car.... but they gave me a false one. A diffrent dealership got me the correct carfax today.

A: I rarely advise people to sue, but in this case, I suggest you consult an attorney that specializes in car dealer cases. A prior lemon law buyback MUST be disclosed (at least in CA, but I'm sure elsewhere, too). If the dealer honestly didn't know (and it's very possible they didn't know), I would try to make them buy the car back from me (for what I paid for it), and they can go after whoever they bought it from. Again, though, the only thing that will help you here is an attorney.

Q: someone advise please! lemon law? what do i do?
I traded in my jeep to get another car and I kept it for 4 months but within these 4 months i was having several problems with it and took it back to the dealership before the warranty ran out, the dealership said there was nothing wrong and the problems continued and even began to worsen so I had it checked by 5 other dealerships and they came back with it had transmission problems, power steering, and had been wrecked. The Lemone law was used on it before me... that information was hiden from me in the process of buying it and a seperate dealer was able to pull that information up for me today. im not trying to get the lemon law, im trying to fin out what i can do about the way they have done me. for the past 6 months i have been through so much crap b/c of their car scam.

A: I've always purchased an extended auto warranty for every vehicle I've owned in the last 5 years. In the beginning I used to get them from the dealer, but I've found it's cheaper to get them from an aftermarket company that specializes in warranties. http://www.simpleautoquotes.com/Auto-Warranty.html They offer free quotes, so it can't hurt to see how much one would cost for your vehicle.

Q: Car Leases?
Approx. how much would the lease be monthly on these following cars. 2006/2007--jeep grand cherokee 2006/2007-jeep commander 2005/2006/2007--saab 93 (sedan)

A: There really is a lot more to it than the information you provided. You will need to know the Residual value. The High MSRP, the selling price, the term, your lease rate, if there are any fee's that will be included (such as acquisition fee's), if you are putting money down, what mileage you would prefer, etc.... Leases are not incredibly complex, but they require specific information to accuratly quote payments.
