Q: Will a P255/70r18 wheel off a stock 2008 Jeep Sahara fit on a stock 2001 Jeep Cherokee?
I am wanting to mount a P255/70r18 wheel on my 01 Jeep Cherokee Sport that came factory with a P235/75r15 wheel, to give it a better look. Can this swap happen without any other mods other than the 5x4.5 to 5x5 lug adapter?

A: No. that size from the JK is 32" tall, too big to run on a Cherokee with no lift...you will need at least 3" lift to run that, more if you're going to run it off road.

Q: Will a LT255/75R17 wheel off a stock 2007 Jeep Wrangle Rubicon fit on a stock 2001 Jeep Cherokee?
I am wanting to mount a LT255/75R17 wheel on my 01 Jeep Cherokee Sport that came factory with a P235/75R15 wheel, to give it a better look. Can this swap happen without any other mods other than the 5x4.5 to 5x5 lug adapter?

A: Not only are the spacers a bad idea, the tires are too tall to run on a stock Cherokee. You're going to need at least 3" of lift to run 32" tall tires on a cherokee.

Q: Is a 2001 Jeep Cherokee transfer case swapable with a 1998 Jeep Cherokee?
I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee Classic that has a bad transfer case. And i know someone selling a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Transfer case and was wondering if i could put the 2001 on the 1998 with out any problems. Both jeep a 6cyl and 4.0L

A: Yes. car-part.com is a salvage yard search engine, and you can easily find cross listed parts. If you search 2001 Jeep Cherokee transfer case, you will see many vehicles from 1996-2001. This is also a great option for finding parts that are worth more than the vehicle to buy new.

Q: How many miles can I get out of my 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport?
It's in pretty good condition. Has 103,700 miles on it now. How much longer will it last do you think?

A: Well i have had 6 jeeps all but one with the 4.0 liter witch your jeep most likely has. My first one I got 265,000 miles out of it but then I wrecked it never had a problem with it. the second had 194,000 on it but I sold it and i know it's still running. and the last one i had had 165,000 on it but I sold it also. Just so you know i used them all off road at least 3 or 4 times a month and they still ran 200,000+ miles so as long as you keep it up to date with regular oil changes and tune ups. it will run as long as you want it too. Hope this Helps!

Q: I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Laredo and when I press the brakes there is a loud knocking noise. Any ideas what?
We have recently changed brake pads and about 1 year ago we changed rotors and brake pads.

A: This may be an anti-lock system malfunction. If you don't have anti-lock, I don't know. You should probably take it to a brake shop, or maybe call them and ask them. Usually they will tell you what to check on your car to eliminate some problems.

Q: i have 2001 jeep cherokee limited and just change spark plugs but feels shakie.?
i have a 2001 jeep limited and change the sparks plugs but it still feels shakie and and kinda feels like is too accelarated , it has 93000 miles . do i have a serious problem ? please help.

A: Did this occur before the spark plug replacement, or only since? If it has only been since, pull off the coil pack and put it back on, making sure the boots are on the plugs. I've had a few come in where someone replaced there own plugs and now runs rough, because 1 or more of the coil boots weren't even on a plug. I have also seen people put platinum plugs in the 4.0L and had runability issues. It is strongly recommended (for this very reason) to only use copper plugs. Double check these 2 things. And what do you mean by "feels like is too accelerated?"

Q: 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee--- Is the odometer reading stored in the instrument cluster or computer?
I have to swap out the instrument cluster in my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have purchased one, but I am unsure what the mileage will read when I put the new one in. Will it start over at zero? Will it go to the mileage of the previous vehicle? Or is it all stored in the computer, and not the cluster, and stay the same? Thanks for any help, I would like to keep the "odometer not actual" stamp off of the title.

A: The mileage is stored in the powertrain control module and the body control module. You shouldn't have any problems with the correct mileage showing uo with the new cluster.

Q: The rear windshield wiper on my 2001 Jeep Cherokee is dead. Any ideas on how to fix it?
The washer fluid still works, just not the wiper itself. The fuse is still good.

A: sounds like the motor is burned out! I would say check the plug on your hard top but, I am sure you did that already!

Q: Oil Pressure problems on a 2001 jeep cherokee?
My cherokee upon start up the oil pressure its fine.50+ as the motor warms up it gets lower and lower till its at 0. what could be the problem?

A: defective pressure sensor

Q: I am having a problem with my 2001 Jeep Cherokee air conditioner?
It will run fine when I am goign at over 30 MPH, but if I slow down or get stuck in traffic after a few minutes it will stop blowing cold and you get a musky smell with a noticable increase in humidity. Once you get back up to speed it will start to blow clod after a few miles. Any ideas on what is wrong? Thanks.

A: A/C accumulator might be clogged or the evaporator isnt working properly

Q: What 16" and 17" Wheels will interchange with a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Limited? Will Grand Cherokee or Wrangler?
I know the Cherokee has specific offset that destinquishes it from another wheel of that bolt pattern. I also believe different year model Wranglers have different wheels.

A: all models (xj will fit up with xj, yj with jy, tj with tj, and cj with cj, along with all the other models) here is a guide to what fits what more specifically. HAPPYJEEPIN! OIIIIIO http://www.jeepfan.com/tech/JeepWheelsTech.php

Q: How to tun off the overhead lights in a 2001 Jeep Cherokee (NOT a Grand Cherokee)?
Like most cars, when one or more of the passenger doors are open, the dome light comes on. When the hatch is open, the rear trunk dome light comes on. There's no switch in my Jeep to turn off these lights and there's no easy way to take out the light bulbs all the time so we can leave a door or doors open at the drive in, when camping, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions at all? I've checked the manual and I called a mechanic with no luck. p.s. The Jeep Cherokee is also known as an "XJ".

A: Stuff something soft (so as not to scratch your paint) in the door jambs to depress the little pin switch and tell the lights your door is closed. You can find them while the door is open. For the hatch, I'm pretty sure there's a pin switch too, but it's probably up along the top. If you're really good with tape, maybe you can tape the pin switches down, but I've always used like a piece of wood (similar to a tongue depressor or popsicle stick). Hope this helped!

Q: What size are the front (door) and rear (overhead) speakers in a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport?
Replacing all of them soon, and don't want to buy the wrong size....

A: Your front door speakers are 5 1/4 to 6 1/2, if you go with the larger speaker you will most likely have to drill new mounting holes.....not a big deal easy to install. The 5 1/4 will be a direct replacement. Same for the rears/overheads.

Q: Mounting an AC power inverter in a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport?
I was wondering if anyone familiar with the construction of Jeep Cherokee Sports could suggest a place to mount an AC power inverter. I have this model inverter: http://www.donrowe.com/inverters/cobra_800.html I want to hardwire it to the battery and perminately fix it in place somewhere for easy access from the driver or passenger seats. What would be the best place?

A: Mount it a couple of inches off the floor and in a place where it can cool easily. The wiring kits that come with the inverter are good up to the 1000/2000 watt inverters. Anything larger and you should beeef up the gage of wire and fuse. Go to a audio shop for larger wire/kits. Inverters can get hot so if you have kids you might not want to put it in the back. On top of the dash or the underside of the dash are the best places if you dont have kids the back of the center councle is also a good spot. Goodluck

Q: How do I reprogam a keyless entry remote for a 2001 Jeep Cherokee?
without taking it to a dealership.

A: you have to take it to the dealership.. they have a computer they plug into a port and reprogram it that way. there's no way to do it otherwise. you might end up setting you're alarm off and it will never go off if you try to mess with it. it's not all that expensive. about 85 dollars. it's worth paying the money and not messing the vehicle's alarm system up which could cost you alot more to fix!
